We'll
explore the world of algebraic geometry, where spheres are the same as planes,
imaginary numbers coexist peacefully with the real ones, and parallel lines
intersect. In this talk we'll view algebraic geometry through the lens of
algebraic surfaces, geometric objects whose rich classification brings us to
the cutting edge of mathematical research.
