Two representatives from the St. Charles Jr/Sr High School will share their experiences in the teaching profession.  This informal question and answer session will also provide the opportunity for audience members to ask questions about the student teaching experience and the job application process.

A Tour of Algebraic Surfaces

We'll explore the world of algebraic geometry, where spheres are the same as planes, imaginary numbers coexist peacefully with the real ones, and parallel lines intersect. In this talk we'll view algebraic geometry through the lens of algebraic surfaces, geometric objects whose rich classification brings us to the cutting edge of mathematical research.
